At the crossroads of Sci-Fi and reality TV, Destination Truth has found its home on the SyFy Channel, joining the ranks of Battlestar Galactica and Caprica under entirely different circumstances: what viewers see is meant to be as real as it gets. Real people with, well, arguably real stories - at least that's what the show aims to introduce and examine. The unbelievable hour-long journey is full of colorful personalities, unimaginable claims, and some very disturbing pieces of evidence of the unknown that suggest even the world's most prestigious explorers have more searching to do.

Finding the truth, it seems, is gritty, treacherous and can be downright disgusting. All in a day's work for host Josh Gates and his small production team, however. In an effort to explain and possibly debunk a wide range of legends and many less-known but just as strange myths throughout the world, Josh and his group - ranging from experienced researchers to accredited cameramen and producers - seek to gather tangible evidence in order to give these mysterious ghouls and creatures a basis in modern science.

The Breakdown of Destination Truth

Conceived by brothers Michael and Neil Mandt, the series made its debut in 2007 focusing on preexisting stories of supernatural phenomenon and cryptozoology, recognizing cultural and international customs while on a hunt for new information in some of the most remote areas of the world. Each episode begins with paranormal researcher Josh Gates and his ever-revolving team of specialists presenting a cryptid or mystic location and wrapping up their basic research with a plan to go off the beaten path to investigate.
