Oakland Athletics Spring Training Ticket
After watching the team from across the bay, the San Francisco Giants, win the 2010 World Series, the Oakland A's immediately got to work putting together their team for 2011. The A's had the busiest offseason of the 30 Major League teams and were able to add some solid players to their roster. General Manager Billy Beane was aggressive in pursuit of free agents and was able to pull off some trades.
Oakland's biggest weakness last year was their offense and Beane was focused on adding some quality bats to the lineup this winter. Oakland traded for Royals outfielder David DeJesus in November sending a pair of pitchers, Vin Mazzaro and Justin Marks in return. DeJesus is a career .289 hitter and was hitting .318 for the Royals last year before getting injured. Oakland also picked up outfielder Josh Willingham via trade in December. Willingham should add a little more pop to the Oakland lineup and is capable of hitting 20-25 home runs for the A's this year. The big addition offensively was the signing of free agent designated hitter HIdeki Matsui. Matsui is a smart, veteran hitter that can drive in runs in the middle of the A's lineup in 2011.
