Some of the biggest names in UK television chose, today, to make an intervention in what is likely to be one of theclosest general elections in recent British political history. The stars, writing in the Observer on 25 April 2010, are alarmed by Conservative proposals to reform the BBC and allege that their policies would have a devastating effect both on the BBC and on Britain's popular culture more generally.
